After Muoi: The Curse Returns and Furies, actress Rima Thanh Vy has transformed into a new version of character Tam in Vietnam cinema, promising to bring the most unique portrayal of Tam to date in the horror film Con Cam.
As soon as the first look poster for the film Con Cam was released, many viewers expressed their excitement to know the actors playing Tấm, Cám, and the Stepmother. Following the announcement that the legendary Stepmother would be played by Thuy Diem, the producer Hoang Quan and director Tran Huu Tan also revealed that the role of Tam would be played by actress Rima Thanh Vy. With her versatile acting skills and pure beauty at the peak of her youth, Rima Thanh Vy is expected to bring the most unique portrayal of Tam to date.

After a year away from big screen, Rima Thanh Vy returns as Tam in the movie Con Cam. As a horror adaptation of the fairy tale Tam Cam, the characters in Con Cam will undergo some changes, and Rima Thanh Vy’s Tam is no exception.

“Director Tran Huu Tan said that my face can look both kind and evil, which fits the role of Tam perfectly. Additionally, producer Hoang Quan assessed that I am full of energy and lively, not just a pretty but bland muse”, Rima Thanh Vy shared. This is why she became the perfect choice to create an image of Tam that is not entirely as gentle as everyone usually imagines in Con Cam
“My Tam will still be a beautiful, gentle, kind girl who cares for others. However, she will be more proactive, smart, decisive, and have a stronger voice compared to the traditional Tam. Moreover, Tam in Con Cam and I both deeply love our families. We care for our parents, so my feelings for Tam are even stronger. I can easily understand Tam psychology, always thinking for others and choosing to give more than to receive,” shared Rima Thanh Vy about the similarities between her and the character Tam.

To prepare best for the role of Tam, Rima Thanh Vy shared: “For me, Tam is a very difficult role. From the moment I got the script, I memorized all of Tam’s lines within the first month. I also carefully analyzed each of Tam’s relationships with other characters to better portray her complex inner emotions. To further support my role, I took dance classes with teacher Jenny and practiced with the action director because this role requires many difficult scenes. Tam is a character from ancient times, so I also needed to pay more attention to my dialogue delivery and acting style to be slower and softer to better fit the role”.
“In the familiar Tam Cam story that the audience knows by heart, Tam is always perfect in everything and experiences a lot of luck in her life, true to the saying “one good turn deserves another”. However, in the horror film version of Con Cam, I believe the audience will be very surprised by the character’s personality, life, and the events that happen to Tam. What you know is just a small part of the truth about this character,” she shared.

Movie Con Cam is produced by ProductionQ, along with the crews of Hellbound Village and The Soul Reaper. The movie is a bloody horror version inspired by the famous fairy tale Tam Cam, scheduled to premiere in September 2024.
