With Vietnamese Horror Story movie, composer Seth Tsui delivered 33 mixes with eerie and thrilling tones that closely follow the content of the film about urban legends. The film narrates three separate stories about a sugarcane juice cart girl, a ghost in an old apartment and the journey of a psychic searching for graves. The sound evokes a sense of nostalgia as the story spans from the 1960s to the 1990s.Vietnamese Horror Story’s soundtrack
The Soul Reaper is the first film ProductionQ has made with a setting in Northern Vietnam, so its soundtrack also features unique characteristics. 45 recordings by composer Tran Duc Quang depict the grim and tragic situation of a desolate village of bandit descendants. The blend of haunting electronic music and recordings of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments enhances the desolate and richly folkloric character of the film’s music. The titles of many tracks are also symbols or plot elements from the film such as the soul ferrying boat, soul-snatching ceremony, strange effigy, hell village wedding, etc. Through music, the deaths and mystical enchantments of Hellbound Village are recreated once more. The Soul Reaper’s soundtrack

In discussions with the media, the producer Hoang Quan and director Tran Huu Tan stated: “For horror movies, the soundtrack is a very important element for storytelling and enhancing the film’s effect. We are very aware of this, so right from the first works, ProductionQ intentionally sought talented composers with distinct expertise in film scoring. The film music is not merely songs; it must also embody the characteristics of each character, setting, and create atmospheric and nostalgic effects for each character and scene”.
